Reconstruction of a 3D scene for bin picking

Abstract:

3D rekonstrukce scény je jednou z nejklíčovějších částí moderních aplikací pro automatizované odebírání dílů (bin-picking). V této práci jsme navrhli a implementovali metodu pro rekonstrukci scény ve formě mračna bodů. Navržená metoda naplánuje trajektorii nad rekonstruovanou scénou a během pohybu robotického ramene kamera umístěná na jeho konci pořizuje obrazy použité pro rekonstrukci. Navržená metoda byla vyhodnocena v robotickém simulátoru na scénách specificky vygenerovaných pro automatické odebírání dílů. Bylo ukázáno, že implementovaná metoda poskytuje lepší výsledky než běžně používaná metoda pro 3D rekonstrukci ze dvou obrazů.

Abstract:

3D reconstruction of a scene is one of the essential parts of modern bin-picking applications. In this thesis, we proposed and implemented a method for reconstructing a scene in the form of a point cloud. The proposed method plans a trajectory above the scene, and during the movement of the robotic arm, the camera mounted on its end-effector acquires images for the reconstruction. The implemented method was evaluated in a robotic simulator on scenes specifically generated for bin-picking. It was shown that the implemented method outperforms the commonly used method for 3D reconstruction from a stereo image.
