Coalition governments in Poland

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá utvářením vládních koalic v Polsku v letech 1993 až 2005. Práce je založena na sekundárních zdrojích informací, které pocházejí převážně z polské provenience. Práce je pojata jako case-study, kde na počátku vyslovena hypotéza je postupně zkoušena. Utváření vládních koalic je analyzováno na základě základní teze Williama Rikera o utváření minimálně vítězných koalic a je také využit Banzhafův index moci. Současně jsou analyzovány motivace jednotlivých politických stran, které vstupovaly do koaličních vlád. Výsledky analýz jednotlivých vládních koalic jsou na konci práce shrnuty slovně i ve formě tabulky.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the formation of the government coalitions in Poland in years 1993 to 2005. The thesis is based on secondary data analysis. Most of the sources are Polish origin. It is a case-study with the hypothesis being analyzed. The formation of the government coalitions is analyzed on the Riker’s assumption about the minimum winning coalition including the Banzhaf index of power. The thesis also analyses the motivation of the political parties that formed the government coalitions. In the end of the thesis the results of all government coalition analyses are summarized and final synthesis is presented in a table.
