The Development and Transition in Timor Leste

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je věnována rozvoji a tranzitivním procesům probíhajícím v republice Východní Timor převážně od vyhlášení nezávislosti na Indonésii. Cílem práce je zhodnotit úroveň rozvoje v kontextu politické tranzice, která zároveň ovlivnila ekonomický rozvoj státu. Teoretická část je zaměřená na uchopení pojmů rozvoj a tranzice. Nadále je zmíněná geografická charakteristika a historická analýza situace v zemi. Následující kapitola poskytuje politickou tranzici, hlavně popis tranzitivního procesu demokratizace před a po vyhlášení suverénního a nezávislého státu Východní Timor. Čtvrtá kapitola je věnována ekonomickému rozvoji státu, je v ní zahrnut rozvoj výuky, tak také ekonomické trendy státu a zhodnocení rozvoje na úrovni ukazatelů HDI a GINI indexu, přičemž výsledné údaje jsou porovnány s nalezenými informacemi. Práce je vypracována na základě kompilace odborné literatury. Výsledkem práce má být poukázání na to, že Východní Timor se úspěšně politicky rozvíjí i přes špatnou ekonomickou situaci.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the development and transition processes taking place in the Republic of Timor-Leste largely since the declaration of independence from Indonesia. The aim of the thesis is to assess the level of development in the context of the political transition that has also affected the economic development of the country. The theoretical part focuses on grasping the concepts of development and transition. Next, the geographical characteristics and the historical analysis of the country are mentioned. The following chapter provides a political transition, mainly a description of the transiotional process of democratization before and after the declaration of the sovereign independent Timor-Leste. The fourth chapter is devoted to the economic development of the country, and trends and an assessment of development at the level of HDI and GINI index indicators, with the resulting data compared with the information found. The paper is based on a compilation of literature. The result of the thesis is intended to show that Timor-Leste is developing successfully politically despite its poor economic situation.
