Kinship and Incest Taboo in the Sacres Symbolization of Hebrew Bible

Abstract:

Tato práce si za pomoci metod sociální a kulturní antropologie, konkrétně teorie příbuzenství, a textové analýzy pěti knih Mojžíšových klade za cíl popsat a analyzovat nábožensko-symbolické univerzum starozákonních Židů, tvořené a utvářené mimo jiné příbuzenskými vztahy. Všechny kulturní a sociální konstrukty, jako patrilinearita určující vnitřní uspořádání izraelského společenství, segmentace a endogamie vymezující hranice či systém incestních zákazů posilujících integritu a stabilitu, byly těsně spojeny s náboženskými postoji a reprezentacemi. Byly legitimizovány náboženstvím, které vytvářelo světový názor, stejně jako základní podobu každodenního života. Vzniklo jisté nábožensko-symbolické univerzum, které těm, kteří jej přijali nabídlo orientaci a řád na všech úrovních lidského života.

Abstract:

This bachelor work is focused on the religious-symbolic universe of biblical Jews which is among others formed and which also forming the kin relationships. The description and analysis is made through the methods of social and culture antropology, concretely through the Theory of Kinship and through textual analysis of the Pentateuch. Patrilineality shaped inner arrangement of Israelite community, segmentation and endogamy helped to delimitate the peculiar identity and also formed the attitude towards surrounding nations, incest prohibitions strenghtened the integrity and stability. All of these cultural and social constructs were closely tied to the religious postures and representations, more precisely they were legitimized by the religion. The religious-symbolic universe was created and it gave to them who assumed it the orientation and order on every level of human life.
