Theme of the Expulsion of the Germans and Holocaust In Selected Prose by Radka Denemark

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá tematikou holocaustu a odsunu Němců ve vybraných prózách Radky Denemarkové, konkrétně v románech Peníze od Hitlera a A já pořád kdo to tluče. Cílem práce je analyzovat autorčino pojetí daných témat s přihlédnutím k historickému a společenskému kontextu, najít propojení reality s fikcí a pojmenovat umělecké prostředky a postupy, které autorka uplatňuje. Vedle literární analýzy, která zahrnuje témata, postavy a jazykovou a stylistickou stránku románu, je problematika zasazena do širších souvislostí s přihlédnutím ke kolektivní paměti či krizi identity. Úvodní část práce představuje osobnost autorky, zařazuje její dílo do kontextu české literatury a pojednává o dějinných skutečnostech, na jejichž základě je román vyfabulován. Analytická část zahrnuje rozbor dvou románů, v nichž se autorka těmto tématům věnuje.

Abstract:

The BA thesis discusses the theme of holocaust and expulsion of the Germans in selected prosaic works of Radka Denemarková, focusing on the novels Money from Hitler and The Devil by the Nose. The main goal of this study is to analyze the author's literary approach to this theme, taking into account the historical and social context. Furthermore, it seeks the connection between reality and fiction, and defines literary devices and methods applied by the writer. In addition to the analysis which explores themes, characters, and the writing style, the thesis also examines the theme of holocaust and expulsion of Germans in relation to the concept of collective memory and identity crisis. The theoretical part introduces the author, contextualizes her work in Czech literature, and presents historical facts which build the novel's foundation. The analytical part includes the analysis of the novels listed above.
