Biology of the genus Byrrhus (Coleoptera: Byrrhidae)

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce je složena ze dvou částí a sumarizuje dostupné informace o rodu Byrrhus (Coleoptera: Byrrhidae). První, rešeršní část, shromažďuje na základě dostupných publikací a literárních zdrojů maximální množství údajů o daném taxonu. Zahrnuje také publikace, které nejsou běžně citovány v souvislosti s rodem Byrrhus, ale pro tuto studii měly velký význam a s pomocí útržkovitých informací pomáhaly dotvořit mozaiku znalostí. Rešerše se zaměřuje na složitou taxonomii včetně synonymizace, rozšíření v Evropě i v ostatních částech světa, potravní specializaci, popis stanoviště a interakce s jinými organismy. Praktická část shrnuje poznatky ze sběru zástupců rodu Byrrhus v západní části Hrubého Jeseníku (Velká Jezerná) a z oblasti Podolánek (Beskydy) a dále z chovu nasbíraných jedinců. Součástí této práce je i seznam dostupné literatury, který by měl shrnovat maximum dostupných zdrojů informací.

Abstract:

This thesis is composed of two parts and summarizes available information on the genus Byrrhus (Coleoptera: Byrrhidae). The first is literature review covering maximum amount of information from available publications and other sources about the given taxon. It also includes publications that are not commonly cited in connection with the genus Byrrhus, but for this study they were of great importance and with fragmentary information they helped to complete the mosaic of knowledge. The review focuses on the complex taxonomy including synonymization, distribution in Europe and the other parts of the World, food specialization, habitat description, and interactions with other organisms. The practical section summarizes data resulted from collecting of the genus Byrrhus in the western part of the Hrubý Jeseník Mts (Velká Jezerná) and in the Podolánky (Beskydy) and also from rearing based on collected specimens. This thesis also includes a list of available literature, which should summarize data from the maximum of available resources.
