The presentation of potentially polarizing themes by political parties on Facebook and the response to it from the Facebook users

Abstract:

Diplomová práce analyzuje komunikaci českých politických stran zastoupených v Parlamentu České republiky na sociální síti Facebook během února a března 2019. Celkem bylo pomocí obsahové analýzy analyzováno přes 1500 příspěvků stran a 36 tisíc komentářů. Výzkumná práce je rámována fenoménem společenské polarizace, která je velmi výrazná v prostředí internetu a sociálních sítí. Práce se ve velké míře zaměřila na prezentaci politických témat. Jedná se především o zahraniční politiku (EU, migrace, bezpečnost), sociální politiku nebo ekonomiku a hospodaření státu. Strany, které prezentovaly možný polarizační obsah, jsou SPD a KSČM, které bylo ve svých příspěvcích výrazně kritické. Strany využívaly emoce jako zloba nebo strach a ve velké míře hodnotili své názorové oponenty. Ostatní strany k polarizaci společnosti příliš nepřispívaly a jejich negativita, kritičnost a snaha polarizovat byla nízká. Analyzovaných komentářů bylo více souhlasných než nesouhlasných, tedy těch, které souhlasily s prezentovaným názorem strany. Hodnoty byly vyrovnané, v poměru 10:8 pro souhlasné komentáře. Ve třetině komentářů od uživatelů převládala emoce zlosti výrazně nad ostatními. Ve čtvrtině komentářů se komentující vymezovali vůči politické straně nebo skupině či organizaci. Sounáležitost vyjadřovali nejčastěji s politickou stranou. Názorové oponenty nejčastěji diskutující kritizovali nebo prezentovali “ve špatném světle”, tedy používali nálepky a obecně o nich mluvili negativně. Výrazně odlišné komentáře se objevily v souvislosti s menšinami, ekonomikou, sociální politikou či ekologií.

Abstract:

The thesis analyzes the communication of Czech political parties represented in the Parliament of the Czech Republic on the Facebook social network during February and March 2019. In total, over 1,500 pages and 36,000 comments were analyzed using content analysis. The research work is framed by the phenomenon of social polarization, which is very significant in the Internet and social networks. The work has largely focused on the presentation of political topics. These are mainly foreign policy (EU, migration, security), social policy or economy and state management. The parties that presented possible polarization content are the SPD and the KSCM, which was significantly critical in its contributions. The parties used emotions such as anger or fear and greatly rated their opinion opponents. Other parties did not contribute much to the polarization of society, and their negativity, criticality, and polarization were low. The analyzed comments were more consonant than dissenting, that is, those that agreed with the party's opinion. Values ​​were balanced, in a 10: 8 ratio for consistent comments. In the third of the comments from the users, the emotions of anger dominated the others. In a quarter of the comments, the commentators defined themselves against the political party or group or organization. They most often expressed their belonging with the political party. Opinions opponents most often criticized or presented "in the wrong way", so they used stickers and talked about them in general. Significantly different comments have been made in relation to minorities, economics, social policy or ecology.
