Risk Factors of Alzheimer´s disease

Abstract:

Alzheimerova choroba (ACH) je nejčastější forma demence. Jedná se o degenerativní, nevyléčitelné a terminální onemocnění. Postihuje vysoké procento lidí na celém světě. Etiologie nemoci není stále známá, ale existuje řada rizikových faktorů, které zvyšují pravděpodobnost vzniku onemocnění. Teoretická část diplomové práce zahrnuje všeobecný úvod do problematiky ACH včetně patofyziologie, klinických příznaků, diagnostických a terapeutických metod, rizikových faktorů a možností prevence. V závěru této části je uvedeno i několik známých studií o ACH. V praktické části jsou statisticky zpracovány výsledky dotazníkového šetření provedeného v rámci pilotní studie Epidemiologie a genetika ACH u pacientů psychiatrických léčeben s diagnózou ACH a kontrolní skupiny pacientů bez ACH dle stanovených kritérií. Otázky z dotazníku byly zaměřeny na identifikační údaje, rodinný stav, vzdělání, období před onemocněním (životní styl, vybrané rizikové faktory, zájmy, zaměstnání), po onemocnění (průběh onemocnění, rok diagnózy, výskyt v rodině) a výsledky MMSE (Minimental State Examination) a CT (počítačová tomografie). Vybrané otázky z dotazníku byly statisticky vyhodnoceny, graficky či tabulkově znázorněny a slovně popsány. Závěrečná část práce obsahuje diskuzi o výsledcích studie a závěrečné shrnutí celé práce. Cílem práce bylo zjistit vliv vybraných rizikových faktorů na vznik ACH.

Abstract:

Alzheimer Disease (AD) is the most common type of dementia. It is a degenerative, incurable and terminates affection. It affects a high percentage of people around the world. The disease´s etiology is still unknown, but there are many high-risk factors that increase the probability of the disease´s origin. The theoretical part of my Master Thesis contains overall introduction into AD problematic including pathophysiology, clinical symptoms, diagnostic and therapeutic methods, risk factors and possible prevention. In the conclusion there are also mentioned several well known studies about AD. In the practical part are statistically processed results of a survey carried out in a pilot study, Epidemiology and genetics of AD patients in psychiatric hospitals with a diagnosis of AD and control group patients without AD according to established criteria. Questionnaire focused on the identification, marital status, education, the period before the illness (lifestyle, selected risk factors, interests, employment), after the disease (duration of disease, year of diagnosis, occurrence in the family) and MMSE (Minimental State Examination) scores and CT (Coputer Tomography). Practical part of this thesis includes research results of the questionnaires by patients with AD diagnosis in mental hospitals. Several questionnaires that have been chosen were graphically and tabular illustrated within verbal description. The final part contains a discussion of the results of the study and a final summary of the work The purpose of this thesis is to find out the influence of chosen risk factors on AD disease´s formation.
