Specifications in Tourism of Gay and Lesbian Target Group

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá cestovním ruchem a analýzou nabídky služeb hlavního města Prahy pro specifickou cílovou skupinu LGBT, tedy pro lesby, gaye, bisexuály a transgender populaci. První část, která je především teoretická, je rozdělena na dvě hlavní kapitoly: Cestovní ruch a Gayové a lesby – perspektivní cílová skupina. V obou kapitolách vymezuji základní pojmy a definice související s danou problematikou. V podkapitolách kromě výše uvedeného prezentuji i historii homosexuality, uvádím základní specifika gay turismu, motivy gayů a leseb k cestování a s tím spojený festival Gay Pride, který je jedním z nejoblíbenějších motivů pro cestování homosexuálních menšin. Po teoretické části následuje část analytická, kde se zabývám LGBT turismem ve světě a organizací CMI, Community Marketing and Insights, která v první řadě vytváří online průzkumy mezi LGBT komunitou. Nejdůležitější částí práce je kapitola Praha jako „gay-friendly“ destinace a kapitola Analýza služeb v Praze zaměřených na příjezdový a výjezdový LGBT cestovní ruch. V těchto kapitolách analyzuji služby pro LGBT turisty v Praze a specifikuji Prahu jako „gay-friendly“ destinaci. Analýza celkové nabídky služeb pro LGBT segment v Praze a zhodnocení, zda je nabídka dostatečná, či nikoliv, je zároveň i hlavním cílem práce „Specifika cestovního ruchu perspektivní cílové skupiny – gayů a leseb“. Výsledky práce ukazují, že nabídka je skutečně dostatečná, nicméně problém spočívá ve špatné propagaci a neucelenosti nabídek. V návrhové části proto přicházím s náměty, jak by se tento problém dal částečně řešit.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis concerns itself with tourism and it provides an analysis of the service offer of the capitol city of Prague for the LGBT target group - i.e. for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people. The first, theoretical part is divided into two chapters: Tourism and Gays and Lesbians - An Up-And-Coming Target Group. Both chapters define the essential terms and definitions related to the topic area. Apart from the above, I also present a history of homosexuality, listing the fundamental specifics of gay tourism, motives that drive gays and lesbians to travel and the related Gay Pride festival, which is one of the most popular motives for homosexual minorities to travel. The theoretical part is followed by an analytical part in which I deal with LGBT tourism around the world and with the organization CMI (Community Marketing and Insights), which focuses mainly on carrying out online research among the LGBT community. The most important part of the thesis is the chapter called Prague as a Gay-Friendly Destination and the chapter An Analysis of Services Related to Incoming and Outgoing LGBT Tourism in Prague. In these chapters I analyze services for LGBT tourists in Prague and specify Prague as a gay-friendly destination. The analysis of the overall service offer for LGBT tourists in Prague and the evaluation whether or not this offer is sufficient is at the same time the main purpose of this thesis. The results of the thesis suggest that the service offer indeed is sufficient, but that there is the problem of insufficient promotion and fragmentary nature of the offers. In the proposal part, I therefore come up with ideas regarding how this problem could be solved.
