Bioluminescencia je citlivá zobrazovacia metóda, ktorá je založená na enzymaticky katalyzovanej oxidácii luciferínu. Luciferín je špecifický substrát a luciferáza je katalyzujúci enzým. Výsledkom tejto reakcie je emisia fotónov. V biologickom výskume je najpoužívanejšia luciferáza zo svetlušiek. Bioluminescence is a sensitive imaging method, which is based on enzymatically catalyzed oxidation of luciferin. Luciferin is a specific substrate and luciferase is a catalyzing enzyme. Result of this reaction is photon emission. In biological research is the most widely used luciferase of firefly.
