Evaluation of teat skin condition in Holstein cattle in relation to milk production

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci je řešeno téma hodnocení kondice pokožky struků u holštýnského skotu ve vztahu k mléčné produkci. Byly popsány faktory ovlivňující mléčnou produkci ve stádech dojeného skotu s detailním zaměřením na hodnocení kondice pokožky struku, jeho anatomii, exteriérové hodnocení struku a význam struků pro produkci mléka. V metodice je popsán management chovu, ve kterém byla data sbírána. Dále byl popsán způsob, jakým byly struky hodnoceny, včetně bodové stupnice a fotografií struků k příslušným stupnicím hodnocení. Sběr dat bude doplněn o údaje z kontroly užitkovosti a stájové evidence. Ve výsledcích je popsána četnost výskytu jednotlivých skóre v pozorovaném souboru zvířat a je vztažena k mléčné produkci včetně významných složek mléka. I když výsledky vyšly statisticky neprůkazné, je zde trend dojivosti s rostoucím skóre struků. Také je zde klesající trend v obsahu tuku, ale opět statisticky neprůkazný. Souhrnně lze konstatovat, že nebyl prokázán vliv skóre struků na mléčnou užitkovost, při další analýze by měl být pokus rozšířen a o větší množství hodnocených krav a opakované měření mléčné užitkovosti u stejných zvířat.

Abstract:

In this bachelor thesis we will deal with the topic of teat skin condition assessment in Holstein cattle in relation to milk production. Factors influencing milk production in dairy herds have been described and we have focused in detail on teat skin condition assessment, teat anatomy, teat exterior evaluation and the importance of teats for milk production. The methodology described the management of the farm in which the data was collected. I also described the manner in which the teats were evaluated, including the scoring scale and photographs of the teats for the rating scales. The data collection will be supplemented with data from performance monitoring and stable records. The results describe the frequency of occurrence of each score in the observed set of animals and relate it to milk production, including milk components. Although the results were statistically inconclusive, there is a trend in milk yield with increasing teat scores. There is also a downward trend in fat content, but again statistically inconclusive. In general, it can be concluded that the effect of teat score on milk yield has not been demonstrated; in further analysis, the experiment should be extended to include a larger number of evaluated cows and repeated measurements of milk yield in the same animals.
