Composition and structure of caddisfly (Trichoptera) assemblages of permanent and intermittent streams

Abstract:

Vysychání toků je fenomén, se kterým se stále více potýká i střední Evropa. Tato diplomová práce zkoumá vliv vysychání na složení taxocenóz chrostíků (Trichoptera) z 20 párů lokalit na území České republiky. V páru je vždy jedna lokalita v rámci permanentního toku a druhá lokalita je v toku, který vysychá. Vysychavé toky jsou rozděleny do dvou kategorií podle délky suché periody – zranitelné a intermitentní toky. Hodnoceno bylo podzimní období po vyschnutí toku a jarní období v následujícím roce. Data pochází z databáze SALAMANDER a z projektu BIOSUCHO. Cílem této práce byla identifikace autekologických charakteristik, které druhům umožní přežít vyschnutí toku. Hodnoceno bylo 5 biologických traits (typ respirace, typ lokomoce, délka života, období emergence, potravní typ) a 2 ekologické traits (proudové preference, preference rozmezí teplot). Je zřejmé, že výskyt chrostíků v intermitentních tocích je determinován zejména odolností vůči vyschnutí a vytvářením rezistentních stádií. Autekologické charakteristiky použité v této práci budou mít významnější roli v tocích vysychajících jen na krátkou dobu. Většina zjištěných taxonů byla nalezena v permanentních i vysychavých tocích. V řekách, které v létě vysychají, ustupují reofilní taxony (Rhyacophila) a filtrátoři (Hydropsyche, Philopotamus). Druhy Oligostomis reticulata, Micrasema longulum, Adicella reducta a zástupci rodu Philopotamus byli nalezeni výhradně v permanentních tocích. Druh Notidobia ciliaris byl nalezen pouze ve zranitelném toku a zástupci rodu Athripsodes byli na jaře nalezeni v obou typech vysychavých toků. Byli nalezeni indikátoři permanentních toků: Rhyacophila s. str. a Sericostoma (podzim i jaro), Philopotamus (pouze podzim), Hydropsyche a Odontocerum albicorne (pouze jaro). Indikátoři vysychání mezi chrostíky nalezeni nebyli.

Abstract:

Drying up of streams is a phenomenom which is more frequent also in Central Europe. This thesis evaluates the effect of drying on the composition of caddisfly (Trichoptera) from 20 pairs of sites in the Czech Republic. Each pair of sites is located on a permanent stream and a stream that dries up. The drying stream were divided into two categories according to the length of the dry period – vulnerable and intermittent streams. Evaluation was based on the autumn season after a drought and the following spring season. The datasets originated from the SALAMANDER database and the BIODROUGHT project. The main aim of this thesis was to identify species traits that allow to survive drought. Five biological traits (respiration, locomotion type, life duration, emergence period, feeding type) and two ecological traits (current preference, temperature range preference) was used. Apparently surviving of caddisfly in the intermittent stream is determined by resistance/resilience to droughts and resistance form. Autecological characteristics (traits) used in this thesis will have major role in the streams that dry up only for a short time. Most taxa was found in permanent and drying streams. Rheophilous taxa (Rhyacophila) and passive filtrators (Hydropsyche, Philopotamus) are less frequent in streams which dry up in the summer. Oligostomis reticulata, Micrasema longulum, Adicella reducta and Philopotamus were found exclusively in permanent streams. Notidobia ciliaris was found exclusively in the vulnerable stream Athripsodes species were found in both types of drying streams. Indicators of permanent streams were found: Rhyacophila s. str. and Sericostoma (autumn and spring), Philopotamus (autumn), Hydropsyche and Odontocerum albicorne (spring). Indicators of dessication were not found.
