Girls' awareness of the advantages and disadvantages of hormonal contraception

Abstract:

Cíl práce: Zjistit jak dobře jsou dívky informovány o výhodách a nevýhodách hormonální antikoncepce. Výzkumný soubor: Dívky studující 1. 4. ročník gymnázia v Kadani. Počet respondentek byl 94, průměrný věk všech respondentek je 17 let. Metoda: Pro výzkum byla použita kvantitativní metoda formou dotazníku. Výzkum proběhl v březnu 2015 na gymnáziu v Kadani. Dotazník obsahoval 20 otázek většinou uzavřených a několik otevřených. Zjištěná data byla zpracována v programu Microsoft Excel do tabulek a grafů pomocí absolutní a relativní četnosti. Výzkumné hypotézy byly vyhodnoceny pomocí testu nezávislosti chí kvadrát. Výsledky: Z výsledků dotazníkového šetření vyplývá, že dívky jsou o hormonální antikoncepci špatně informovány. Většinu nevýhod znalo maximálně 25 % z nich, u výhod byla informovanost lepší, ale velké benefity užívání hormonální antikoncepce dívky téměř neznaly. Data ukazují, že hormonální antikoncepci v tomto věku užívá 50 % dívek. Statistickým zpracováním dat byla potvrzena první hypotéza, podle které jsou dívky informovány lépe o výhodách než o nevýhodách hormonální antikoncepce. Druhá hypotéza, která předpokládala, že dívky, které užívají hormonální antikoncepci budou lépe informovány o rizikovosti kouření ve spojení s užíváním hormonální antikoncepce, než dívky, které ji neužívají, se nepotvrdila. Závěr: Ačkoliv se většina dívek cítila být svým gynekologem v problematice hormonální antikoncepce dostatečně informovaná, jejich znalosti tomu neodpovídaly a celkově byla informovanost o výhodách a nevýhodách hormonální antikoncepce špatná.

Abstract:

Aims of the work: Find out level of awareness of contraceptions advantages and disadvantages. Focused group: Grammar school students (girls only), 1st-4th grade, 94 responders. Average age is 17 years. Method: This quantitative resaerch was carried out via collection of data through questionnaires. Survey was conducted in March 2015 at grammar school Kadaň. Questionnaire included 20 mainly closed questions. The observed data were processed using Excel charts and graphs with absolute and relative (percentage) outputs . Research hypotheses were verified using excel functions CHITEST and CONFIDENCE (corelation test). Outputs: The questionnaire results showed that girls are poorly informed about hormonal contraception. Not more than 25 % of respondents are aware of majority of the disadvantages. In case of the advantages the results were better however the main benefits of contraception were almost unknown. Questionnaire also shows that hormonal contraception is used by 50 % of the respondents. Using statistical data, the first hypothesis: "Girls are better informed about the advantages than the disadvantages of hormonal contraception." was supported. The second hypothesis premised that girls, who use hormonal contraceptives, are more awared about the risks of smoking in conjunction with usage of hormonal contraceptive, than girls, who don´t use contraceptive. This hypothesis wasn´t supported. Result: Although most of respondents felt to be in the matter of hormonal contraception well informed by their gynecologist however, this didn ´t match their actual knowledge, consequently the overall awareness about advantages and disadvantages of hormonal contraception was poor .
