Victor Hugo a journalist and a polemist between the Second Republic and Napoléon le Petit

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with journalism and political activities of Victor Hugo during the French Second Republic. The first part of the thesis gives us an insight of the back-ground of journalistic profession and the role of newspaper in society at that time. After that there is an outline of the development in political and journalistic engagement of Victor Hugo with emphasis on years 1848 to 1851. Finally, there is mentioned several topics that were accentuated by Hugo. These topics are compared depending on their pub-lishing in three different literary forms. We will examine these topics in the daily L'Événement, published during the Second Republic, and in the political pamphlet Napoléon le Petit, which was created in response to the coup d'état and change of regime in 1851.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská diplomová práce se zabývá žurnalistickou a politickou činností Victora Huga během Druhé republiky ve Francii. V práci je nejdříve přiblíženo pozadí žurnalistické profese a role novin v tehdejší společnosti. Poté je zde nastíněn vývoj politické a žurnalistické angažovanosti Victora Huga s důrazem na roky 1848-1851. Nakonec je zde zmíněno několik témat, která Hugo akcentoval. Tato témata budeme zkoumat v deníku L'Événement, vycházejícím během Druhé republiky a politickým pamfletem Napoléon le Petit, který vznikl jako reakce na státní převrat a změnu režimu v roce 1851.
