Corruption in Bulgaria and its Impact on the Quality of Foreign Investments

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je zjisit vliv korupce v Bulharsku na kvalitu zahraničných investic. Další analyze se zaměřuje na vývoj korupce v Bulharsku, pohled zahraničných a domácích organizací na marco prostředí v zěmi na definici kvality zahraničných investic. Na dosažení těchto cílu sme vykonali primární a sekundární výskum. K vyjádření úrovne korupce v zěmi sme použili Globálne indexy jako Globální korupční barometr, Index vnímání korupce, Globální report konkurenceschopnosti a taky Index vnímaní korupce jako jeden ze šesti indikátorů světové vlády od Svetovej banky. Navíc sme zohlednili průzkumy agentur na podporu vývozu.Analyze vedla ke zjištení že korupce ovlivňuje rozhodnutí zahraničných investorů. Úroveň korupce v Bulharsku má jasný vliv na kvalitu zahraničných investic – buď to odradí investory od investování alebo obchodování s touto zemí.

Abstract:

The purpose of this thesis is to find out what the impacts of corruption levels in Bulgaria are on the quality of foreign investments. Other analysis include tracing the development of corruption in Bulgaria, the perceptions of foreign and domestic organizations towards the business and macro environment in the country and how to define what quality foreign direct investments are.To reach these goals, both desk and primary research were executed. Thereby, global indexes, such as the Global Corruption Barometer, the Corruption Perception Index, the Global Competitiveness Index as well as the Control of Corruption Index as one of six composite World Governance indicators of the World Bank were used to give an example of the levels of corruption of a country. Furthermore, surveys conducted by export promotion agencies were considered.The analysis led to the result that corruption does influence the decisions of foreign investors. The levels of corruption that Bulgaria faces do have an impact on the quality of foreign investments - They either discourage investors to invest or to proceed doing business in the country.
