The Living Library - multimedia project for Brno group of Amnesty International

Abstract:

This paper concerns with possibilities of innovative approach to using new media in the stereotypical depiction of minorities. The subject of the bachelor thesis is antidiscrimination training project Living Library that was created in cooperation with Amnesty International and representatives of the minoritity groups. The product of the practical part of the thesis is a videospot and the audiovisual portraits of three participants in the Living Library as "living books" like a part of documentary group portrait. The inspiration for the audiovisual portraits I drew in multimedia project The New York Times – One in 8 Million. The practical output of bachelor thesis is published on the website of Amnesty International. Finally, the paper includes reflection, in which it evaluates the succes of original intent – to break stereotypical view on minority groups.

Abstract:

Táto práca sa zaoberá možnosťami inovatívneho prístupu médií v stereotypnom zobrazovaní menšín. Námetom tvorivej bakalárskej práce je antidiskriminačný vzdelávací projekt Živá knihovna, v ktorom Amnesty International spolupracuje so zástupcami minoritnej spoločnosti. Produktom práce je skupinový dokumentárny portrét zachytený na základe videospotu a troch audiovizuálnych portrétov živých kníh, ktoré na projekte spolupracujú. Inšpiráciu pri tvorbe audiovizuálnych portrétov multimediálny projekt Živá knihovna čerpal na základe tvorivých postupov využívaných v koncepte The New York Times – One in 8 Million. Vďaka svojmu multimediálnemu charakteru praktický výstup bakalárskej práce využíva možnosti nových médií a je uverejnený na webových stránkach Amnesty International. V závere práce je uvedená autorská reflexia, ktorá uvádza do akej miery bol naplnený pôvodný zámer – narušiť stereotypný pohľad voči menšinám.
