Parties of recource conflict in Angola

Abstract:

Typologie aktérů tvoří stěžejní část výzkumu konfliktů. Umožňují analyzovat postavení jednotlivých účastníků konfliktu. V současné době je jednou z nejpoužívanějších dvouúrovňové chápání aktérů navržené v Uppsala Conflcit Data Program. Pro studium moderních válek ale nedostačuje a je třeba zavést kategorii terciární. Výzkumným záměrem této práce je vypracovat novou typologii, která bude schopna přesněji zachytit pozice a strategie všech relevantních aktérů v daném konfliktu. K ilustraci této typologie bude použit surovinový konflikt v Angole. Zvolen byl díky své kontinuitě – a tedy možnosti sledovat proměnu aktérů před a po konci Studené války.

Abstract:

Typology of parties in conflict constitutes one of the most important steps in conflict research. It provides us with tools to analyze importance of various agents involved in conflict. One of the most influential recent typology is the one used by Uppsala Conflict Data Program. Its main shortcoming is only two dimensional understanding of parties. This seems to be inadequate, so the tertiary level should be added. The main objective of this paper is thus to develop new typology which will enable us to analyze positions and strategies of all parties involved in modern conflicts. Conflict in Angola has been chosen to illustrate this new approach.
