The foreign policy analysis of US policy on Iran during G. W. Bush administrations in regard of realist theories of international relations

Abstract:

Záměrem práce je analyzovat zahraniční politiku administrativ G. W. Buse k Íránu z hlediska hlavních soudobých realistických teoretických škol – defenzivního a ofenzivní realismu a neoklasického realismu. To představuje definování regionálního prostředí Íránu a stupně anarchie v regionu užitím základních realistických konceptů jako např. rovnováhy moci, hegemonické stability a tranzice moci. Navržení nejlepších zahraničněpolitických přístupů jednotlivých teorií umožní srovnání se skutečnou politikou Spojených států a odhalí případnou přítomnost realistických prvků v jejich politice. Pomůže rovněž zjistit zdali americká politika vycházela dominantně z premis určité vybrané subteorie. V případě negativního zjištění nabídne nejvhodnější alternativu.

Abstract:

The subject of the work is to analyse the US foreign policy of G. W. Bush administrations on Iran in regard of major contemporary theoretical schools of realism – defensive and offensive realism and neoclassical realism. That requires defining a regional environment of Iran and degree of anarchy in the region using basic realist concepts such as balance of power, hegemonic stability and power transition. Then outlining the best foreign policy approach of each realist school and matching it with the real US policy to reveal a possible presence of realist premises in the policy and find out if the policy has dominantly come out of any selected realist theory if not propose the most appropriate alternative approach.
