Sediment flux conditions in the Černá Opava Basin - an analysis of the (dis)conectivity of the fluvial system

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce řeší podmínky transportu sedimentů v povodí toku Černá Opava. Pozornost je věnována analýze (dis)konektivity fluviálního systému a donášce sedimentů do toku. V dalším kroku jsou vymezeny potenciální zdrojové oblasti donášky sedimentů, které byly ověřeny terénním průzkumem. V části práce je popsána donáška sedimentů do toků a vymezeny oblasti eroze a akumulace sedimentů. Hlavní část práce se soustřeďuje na vymezení blokací v transportu sedimentů v podobě buffers, barriers a blankets. Uvažuje se vliv přirozených, ale i antropogenních bariér. Od správců toku byla vyžádána dokumentace o antropogenních zásazích do koryta toku a o odtěžování sedimentů. Při terénním mapování byl proveden na vybraných lokalitách zrnitostní rozbor splavenin, a na základě toho bylo posouzeno, zda dochází ke zjemňování dnového materiálu. V závěru byly vytvořeny zrnitostní křivky. Jako dílčí lokality pro mapování blokací jsou také vybrány dva přítoky Černé Opavy, Suchý potok a Rudný potok, na kterých bylo provedeno rovněž podrobné terénní mapování korytových forem, donášky sedimentů do toku a blokace v jejich transportu. Jako volné přílohy byly vytvořeny mapy zdrojových oblastí donášky sedimentů a mapy blokací. Součástí přílohy práce je také fotodokumentace.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis concerns with sediment flux conditions in the catchment area of the Černá Opava River. Furthemore, attention is paid to the analysis of the (dis)connectivity of the fluvial system and the delivery of sediments into the stream. The author focuses on defining the potential source areas of sediment-delivery, which were checked by the field research. One of the goals is to identify the areas of erosion and sediment accumulation for the selected streams. The attention is also paid to defining blockages in the sediment transport in the form of buffers, barriers and blankets. In the next step anthropogenic and natural barriers to the movement of bedload are identified. Part of the thesis deals with anthropogenic interventions in the channel and extracting of sediments. During the field mapping, sediment grain size analysis was carried out at selected locations and it is assessed whether a refinement of the bottom material is present. Two tributaries of Černá Opava, the Suchý Stream and the Rudný Stream, were selected as partial research sites. In the two localities, detailed mapping of the channel forms, delivery of sediment and blocking of their transport. Further maps of each stream, source areas of sediment delivery, blockages are created accompanied with illustrative documentation photographs.
