Analysis of Gender Performativity in History of Czech Scouting Movement

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá proměnami genderových identit v historii českého skautingu. Soustředí se na otázku, co znamenalo být skautem či skautkou v různých obdobích a jaké byly jejich ideální podoby. Prostřednictvím skautské literatury se snaží rekonstruovat diskurzivní rovinu skautingu a odkrýt další vlivy, které měly na tyto identity vliv. Pomocí orální historie pak odkrývá rovinu aktérské zkušenosti.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with changes in gender identities in the history of Czech scouting. It focuses on the question of what it meant to be a Boy Scout or Girl Guide/Scout in different periods and what their ideal forms were. Through scouting literature, it tries to reconstruct the discursive level of scouting and uncover other influences that had an impact on these identities. Using oral history, it uncovers the level of acting experience.
