Scenario creation and management for component-based application testing

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této práce je vytvořit nástroj pro automatické generování scénářů pro testovací framework SimCo, což je nástroj pro testování OSGI komponentových aplikací vyvíjený na Katedře informatiky a výpočetní techniky Západočeské univerzity. Uživatel SimCa si může vybrat, které komponenty mají být testovány a které mají být nahrazeny jejich vhodnou simulací - mockupem. Do teď musely být simulované komponenty a scénáře, nutné pro použití SimCa, vytvářeny ručně, což bylo časově náročné a nepohodlné. Tato diplomová práce vytváří simulované komponenty a kostru celého simulačního scénáře, čímž šetří čas uživatele a umožňuje mu se více soustředit na psaní testů, než na psaní boiler-plate kódu. Tato práce může být také použita mimo SimCo jako nástroj pro RAD nebo jako generátor stubů komponent.

Abstract:

The main goal of my thesis is to create a tool for automatic scenario generation for SimCo framework, which is a tool designed for testing OSGI component based application developed at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at University of West Bohemia. A SimCo user can choose which bundles shall be tested and which should be replaced by their proper simulation ? a mock up bundle. The simulated bundles and whole scenario had to be created manually in order to use the SimCo so far, which was time demanding and uncomfortable. This thesis creates the simulation bundles from real bundles and fabricates the scenario skeleton for the user saving his time and letting him to focus more on the testing than on writing boiler plate code. This thesis could also be used outside the SimCo framework as a tool for Rapid Application Development as a Bundle stub generator.
