Anotace:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá migrací a vznikem čínských diaspor v jihovýchodní Asii ve druhé polovině 19. století, tedy v letech 1850 až 1890 se zaměřením na Singapur a Penang. Cílem práce je analyzovat a popsat hlavní faktory, které ovlivnily migraci čínského obyvatelstva do těchto oblastí a jak přispěly k formování stabilních diasporních komunit. Práce se také zaměřuje na ekonomické, sociální a institucionální aspekty migrace v kontextu britské koloniální správy. Metodologicky vychází z analýzy historických pramenů, jako jsou novinové články a cestovní deník, spolu s vybranou odbornou literaturou. Výsledkem práce je srovnávací zhodnocení vývoje čínských komunit v obou lokalitách a jejich historické role v regionálním kontextu.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis examines migration and the emergence of Chinese diasporas in Southeast Asia during the second half of the 19th century, specifically from 1850 to 1890, with a focus on Singapore and Penang. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the main factors that influenced the migration of the Chinese migrants to these regions and how they contributed to the formation of stable diaspora communities. The study further explores the economic, social, and institutional aspects of migration in the context of British colonial administration. Methodologically, it draws on an analysis of historical sources, such as contemporary newspaper articles and travel diaries, along with selected scholarly literature. The study provides a comparative assessment of the development of Chinese communities in both locations and historical roles in the regional context.
