Incidence of selected pathogenic microorganisms causing zoonotic diseases in domestic cats (Felis catus)

Abstract:

Kočku domácí, chovanou jako mazlíčka, najdeme v mnoha domácnostech. Počet koček roste a s ním i možné riziko přenosu nákazy z kočky na člověka. Proto bychom měli dbát o zdraví kočky a její tělesnou kondici, čímž se riziko přenosu snižuje. Mezi nejvíce ohrožené skupiny lidí patří těhotné ženy, které vystavují možnosti nákazy nejen sebe, ale i plod. Další ohroženou skupinou jsou pacienti s oslabenou imunitou jako HIV pozitivní pacienti či pacienti se srdečními potížemi. Cílem práce je poskytnou ucelený přehled o vybraných nemocech, konkrétně toxoplazmóze, Q horečce a tularémii, v kontextu výskytu u koček a lidí, o možnostech nákazy a projevech onemocnění.

Abstract:

Domestic cat, reared as a pet, we can found in many households. The number of cats is increasing, thus, possible risk of disease transmission from cats to humans is also increasing. Therefore, it is necessary to take care about the feline health and fitness, thereby reducing the risk of transmission. The most endangered group are pregnant women, who are exposing themselves to danger but also their unborn child. Another endangered group are people with weakened immune systems, especially HIV-positive patients or patients with heart problems. The aim of this work is to provide a comprehensive overview about chosen diseases, specifically about the toxoplasmosis, Q fever and tularemia, in the context of incidence in cats and humans, the possibility of infection and disease manifestations.
