Is death a harm to be afraid of it?

Abstract:

Tématem diplomové práce je otázka, zda je smrt újmou a zda bychom se měli smrti obávat. Práce je tematicky rozdělená do pěti částí. První část práce je o smrti samotné, jsou zde vysvětleny některé pojmy související se smrtí. V druhé části je smrt probírána jako špatná událost v lidském životě a seznamuje s pojmy, jako jsou: úzkost, újma či strach. Třetí část objasňuje pojetí well-being a je zde hlouběji řešen problém smrti jako újmy v porovnání s well-being člověka. Čtvrtou částí jsou pohledy některých filosofů na smrt, napříč staletí-mi. Je zde citován například Epikuros, S?ren Kierkegaard nebo Martin Heidegger. V závěrečné kapitole s názvem Význam smrti v lidském životě je zamyšlení se nad získanými poznatky během tvorby diplomové práce a je zde pojednáváno o důležitosti smrti, jakou nese z hlediska k lidskému životu.

Abstract:

The main topic of this diploma thesis is a question whether death is a harm to be afraid of. This diploma thesis is thematically divided into five parts. The first part is about death it-self, some terms related to death are explained there. In the second part, death is discussed as a bad event in human life and introduces concepts such as anxiety, harm or fear. The third part clarifies the concept of well-being and the problem of death is deeper dealt with as harm compared to the well-being of man. The fourth part presents the view of some phi-losophers focusing death, across the centuries. Epikuros, S?ren Kierkegaard or Martin Hei-degger are specifically mentioned. In the final chapter which is called The importance of death in human life there is a reflection of the knowledge acquired during the creation of the diploma thesis and the importance of the death it carries from the point of view of hu-man life is discussed there.
