The Monk as the Bearer of the "Romantic Feeling", as Presented by E. T. A. Hoffmann in his The Devil's Elixirs
Abstract:
This bachelor´s work analyses the motive of the monk in the black romantic works, especially in the work Elixiere des Teufels (Elixirs of the devil), 1815-1816 from Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann. The person of the monk is regarding Hoffmann connected with the motive of a double - ganger, an artist, mystery and a psychical abnormality with the demoniac and ill. Bakalářská práce analyzuje motiv mnicha v dílech tzv. černé romantiky, především v díle Ernsta Theodora Hoffmanna Elixír ďábla (1815-1816). Postava mnicha je u Hoffmanna spojená a prezentována motivem dvojníka, umělce, s tajemstvím a psychickými abnormalitami, s démonickými jevy a duševně nemocnými.
