Microbial screening of potential oil degraders in the soil environment

Abstract:

Z ropou kontaminované půdy byly vyizolovány bakterie, u kterých byl předpoklad zvýšené schopnosti rozkládat ropu a ropné produkty. Pomocí manometrické metody OxiTop byla stanovena schopnost biodegradace hexadekanu a surové ropy vyjádřená spotřebou kyslíku. Produkce biosurfaktantů byla posouzena pomocí drop-collapse testu. I když žádný z izolátů biosurfaktanty neprodukoval, všechny izoláty rozkládaly hexadekan a omezeně i surovou ropu. Mezi nejlepší degradátory se zařadily na základě našich testů bakterie rodů Bacillus, Acinetobacter a Enterobacter.

Abstract:

Bacteria were isolated from the oil-contaminated soil, which were assumed to have an increased ability to degrade oil and oil products. The ability to biodegrade hexadecane and crude oil, expressed as oxygen consumption, was determined using the OxiTop manometric method. The production of biosurfactants was assessed using a drop-collapse test. Although none of the isolates produced biosurfactants, all isolates degraded hexadecane and, to a limited extent, crude oil. The best degraders based on our tests were bacteria of the genera Bacillus, Acinetobacter and Enterobacter.
