The rehabilitation program of a patient with primary progressive multiple sclerosis following a fracture of the femur due to accidental fall: clinical case

Abstract:

Within this paper, the clinical case of a patient suffering from primarily progressive multiple sclerosis with significant walking and muscle deficits will be described. A general overview of the pathology (etiology, pathophysiology, clinical course, evolution over time) on the therapies performed by the patient (both physiotherapy and pharmacological) will also be offered. In a second moment, the case of fracture of the femur in a patient suffering from multiple sclerosis will also be described, given that the aforementioned patient of the clinical case examined, following an accidental fall due to the balance deficit, reported a fracture of the neck of the femur with subsequent application of intramedullary prosthesis.

Abstract:

All'interno di questo elaborato sar? descritto il caso clinico di una paziente affetta da sclerosi multipla primariamente progressiva con importanti deficit deambulatori e muscolari. Sar? inoltre offerta una panoramica generale sulla patologia (eziologia, fisiopatologia, decorso clinico, evoluzione nel tempo) sulle terapie effettuate dalla paziente (sia fisioterapiche che farmacologiche). In un secondo momento sar? altres? descritto il caso di frattura del femore in un paziente affetto da sclerosi multipla, dato che la suddetta paziente del caso clinico preso in esame, in seguito a caduta accidentale dovuta proprio al deficit di equilibrio, riportava frattura del collo del femore con conseguente applicazione di protesi endomidollare.
