Breeding of laboratory pigs of the type Minnesota and the evaluation of selected reproductive traits

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá chovem laboratorních miniprasat a zhodnocením vybraných reprodukčních vlastností. V úvodní části jsou zmíněny reprodukční vlastnosti prasat společně s vlivy, které je ovlivňují. V navazující části je zhodnocena aktuální situace v chovu miniprasat, dále jsou popsána vybraná plemena miniprasat, jejich reprodukce a využití. Následuje experimentální část diplomové práce, kde bylo cílem provést zhodnocení reprodukčních parametrů miniprasnic včetně vlivů kance na reprodukci prasnic a dalších vlivů ovlivňujících jejich reprodukční parametry. Sledování bylo u prasnic soustředěno na vliv věku na počty všech a živě narozených selat ve vrhu, dále vliv kategorie na počet všech a živě narozených selat ve vrhu a vliv období porodu na počet všech a živě narozených selat ve vrhu. U kanců bylo sledování zaměřeno na vliv kance na procentuální úspěšnost zabřezávání, dále vliv věku na procentuální úspěšnost zabřezávání, následoval vliv období připouštění na procentuální úspěšnost zabřezávání a také na průměrný počet všech selat ve vrhu a vliv věku kance na průměrný počet všech narozených selat ve vrhu. Experimentální část probíhala na detašovaném pracovišti chovu prasat Výzkumného ústavu živočišné výroby v Kostelci nad Orlicí. Data byla vyhodnocována od roku 2018 do konce roku 2023. Průměrný počet všech narozených selat ve vrhu byl 8,06 selat, z čehož bylo 7,17 selat narozených živě a 0,89 selat narozených mrtvě. Odstavených selat bylo v průměru 6,60 a ztráty od narození do odstavu činily průměrně 7,39 %. Průměrná délka gravidity byla 114,25 dní. Při sledování vlivu kance na procentuální úspěšnost zabřezávání byl zjištěn statisticky průkazný rozdíl (p ≤ 0,05), kdy kanec 369K dosahoval 100% úspěšnosti zabřezávání a kanec 302K dosahoval pouze 26,08% úspěšnosti zabřezávání. Statisticky průkazný rozdíl (p ≤ 0,05) byl zjištěn také u vlivu věku kance na procentuální úspěšnost zabřezávání, kdy nejvyšší míry oplozenosti dosahovali kanci ve věku dvou let, a to 86,67 %. Naopak nejnižší míry oplozenosti dosahovali kanci ve věku devět let, a to pouhých 8,30 %.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the breeding of laboratory minipigs and evaluation of selected reproductive traits. The introductory part outlines key reproductive characteristics of pigs, along with various factors influencing them. In the following part the current situation in minipig breeding is evaluated, selected breeds of minipigs, their reproduction and use are described. This is followed by the empirical part of the thesis, where the aim was to evaluate the reproductive parameters of minipigs, including the effects of boar on the reproduction of sows and other influences affecting their reproductive parameters. In sows, the monitoring focused on the effect of age and number of total and live-born piglets in a litter, the effect of category on the number of total and live-born piglets in a litter and the effect of parturition period on the number of total and live-born piglets in a litter. In boars, the observation focused on the effect of boar on the percentage of pregnancy rate, then the effect of age on the percentage of pregnancy rate, followed by the effect of the period of farrowing on the percentage of pregnancy rate and also on the average number of all piglets in the litter and the effect of the age of the boar on the average number of all piglets born in the litter. The experimental part was carried out at the detached workplace of pig breeding of the Research Institute of Animal Production in Kostelec nad Orlicí. The average litter size was 8.06 piglets, of which 7.17 piglets were born alive and 0.89 piglets were stillborn. Weaned piglets averaged 6.60 and losses from birth to weaning averaged 7.39%. The average gestation length was 114.25 days. Observing the effect of boar on percentage of pregnancy rate, there was a statistically significant difference (p ≤ 0.05) in boar 369K achieving 100% pregnancy rate and boar 302K achieving only 26.08% pregnancy rate. A statistically significant difference (p ≤ 0.05) was also found for the effect of boar age on gestation rate in sows, where the highest rate was achieved by boars at the age of two years, i.e. 86.67%. On the other hand, the lowest fertilization rate was achieved by boars aged nine years, i.e. only 8.30%.
