Chapters on the Moon in Geminus' Introduction to the Phenomena

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá jevy spojenými s Měsícem, které ve svém díle Úvod do jevů na nebi popsal starověký astronom Geminos. První kapitola pojednává o pohybu Měsíce, zabývá se také jeho směrem a anomáliemi. Další dvě kapitoly se věnují fázím a zatměním, nejrozsáhlejší kapitolou jsou pak vlivy Měsíce. Ty se dále dělí na aktivní, které způsobuje samotný Měsíc (spadají sem přílivy a odlivy), a pasivní, které byly vymyšleny lidmi (spadají sem řecký a egyptský kalendář, lunární a lunisolární cykly a předpověď počasí).

Abstract:

The bachelor’s thesis deals with lunar phenomena presented by ancient astronomer Geminus in his work Introduction to the Phenomena. First chapter examines lunar motion accompanied by its direction and anomalies. Two chapters then deal with phases and eclipses of the Moon, while the most extensive chapter delves into lunar influences. Those are further divided into active influences caused by the Moon itself (those are the tides) and passive influences created by human beings (those are Greek and Egyptian calendar, lunar and lunisolar cycles and weather forecast).
