Analysis of Vapor Blanket Stability in Various Quenching Media during Heat Tratment of Al-Si Alloys

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá vlivem teploty a druhu chladícího media na tvorbu parního polštáře a následně jeho závislosti na mechanické vlastnosti materiálu. Tato práce obsahuje teoretickou a experimentální část. Teoretická část práce se zabývá hliníkem a hliníkovými slitinami. Blíže se zaměřuje na siluminy, jejich přípravu a tepelné zpracování.V experimentální části se tato práce zabývá odlitím tyčových vzorků AlSi7Mg0,3 a jejich tepelnému zpracování, které se skládá z homogenizační žíhání, ochlazení a umělého stárnutí. Ochlazování probíhalo ve třech chladících mediích o teplotách 20,50 a 70°C: voda, desetiprocentní roztok polyethynelglykolu ve vodě a dvacetiprocentní roztok polyethnelglykolu ve vodě. Je zde zaznamenán parní polštář, čas jeho stability a jeho vliv na tvdost, která byla naměřena dle Brinella a na mikrotvrdosti dle Vickerse. Následně se zkoumala mikrostruktura materiálu před a po vytvrzení.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on the influence of the type and temperature of the cooling medium on the formation of a steam cushion and subsequently its dependence on the mechanical properties of the material. This work contains a theoretical and experimental part. The theoretical focus on aluminum and aluminum alloys. It focuses on silumins, their preparation and heat treatment. In the experimental part, this work deals with the casting of AlSi7Mg0.3 bar samples and their heat treatment, which consists of homogenization annealing, cooling and artificial aging. Cooling was performed at three cooling media temperatures of 20.50 and 70°C: water, a ten percent solution of polyethylene glycol in water and a twenty percent solution of polyethylene glycol in water. The steam cushion, time of its stability and its effect on the hardness, which was measured according to Brinell and on the microhardness according to Vickers. Then the microstructure of the material before and after hardening was examined.
