Circumstances of loss of municipal housing for intervention families in Rapid ReHousing in Brno

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je zjistit, jak okolnosti ztráty městského bydlení interpretují intervenční rodiny z projektu Rapid Re-Housing, resp. komunikační partnerky, tj. primární pečující o děti v intervenčních rodinách. Smyslem by mělo být dosažení hlubšího porozumění (ne)účinnosti přístupu Housing First s cílovou skupinou rodin s dětmi v českém kontextu. V teorii se opírám o koncept intersekcionality a marginalizace doplněný o poznatky z oblasti bytové nouze v zahraničním i domácím kontextu. Zvolila jsem kvalitativní výzkumnou strategii, konkrétně tematickou analýzu hloubkových polostrukturovaných rozhovorů, přičemž vycházím z perspektivy sociálního kontruktivismu. Získaná data a výsledky budou použity v rámci SGS projektu Dosledování dopadů pilotního ověření rychlého zabydlení rodin s dětmi (Rapid Re-Housing) po 5 letech: okolnosti ztráty městského bydlení u intervenčních rodin. Výsledky jsou následující: (1) komunikační partnerky ztrátu bytu interpretují jako důsledek situací spojených s domácím násilím, s problematickým doormanagementem a stížnostmi a peticemi ostatních nájemníků, (2) proces ztráty městského bytu byl pro komunikační partnerky stresující a traumatizující, jejich hlavní potřebou zůstala potřeba důstojného bydlení, přičemž vnímaly nedostatek podpory ze strany sociálních pracovníků a pomoc nalezly zejména ve vlastních příbuzenských sítích.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to find out how the circumstances of the loss of urban housing are interpreted by the intervention families from the Rapid Re-Housing project, respectively by the communication partners, i.e. the primary caregivers of the children in the intervention families. The purpose should be to gain a deeper understanding of the (in)effectiveness of the Housing First approach with the target group of families with children in the Czech context. The theory is based on the concept of intersectionality and marginalisation, complemented by insights from the field of housing need in foreign and domestic contexts. I have chosen a qualitative research strategy, namely thematic analysis of in-depth semi-structured interviews, drawing on a social constructivist perspective. The results will be used in the SGS project A Follow Up of Impacts of Pilot Testing of Rapid Re-Housing for Homeless Families After 5 Years: Circumstances of Municipal Housing Loss of Intervention Families. The results are as follows: (1) the communication partners interpreted the loss of the flat as a consequence of situations related to domestic violence, problematic doormanagement and complaints and petitions from other tenants, (2) the process of losing the municipal flat was stressful and traumatic for the communication partners, the main need remained the need for decent housing, while they perceived a lack of support from social workers and found help mainly in their own kinship networks.
