The Use of State Symbols in Diplomacy

Abstract:

Státní symboly mají pro společnost značný význam. Státní symboly se mohou stále vyvíjet. V jiných případech se mohou měnit nebo zanikat. Státní symboly jsou pro stát důležité, jelikož odrážejí jeho historický a složitý vývoj, kterým procházel a neměl by být zapomenut. Jedná se o formu státní hrdosti a tímto způsobem by se k nim mělo i přistupovat. Státu pomáhají s jeho identifikací. Státní symboly a jejich používání je jasně dáno. Sice je použití pestré, ale vychází ze zákonů a Vídeňských úmluv a používat je mohou pouze oprávněné osoby. V diplomacii mají státní symboly rovněž své zastoupení. Často se můžeme setkat s nesprávným použitím státních symbolů, a to konkrétně v použití státní vlajky. Státní symboly by se neměly zneucťovat a zacházet by se s nimi mělo s úctou a respektem. Jedná se o rozmanitou a pozoruhodnou tématiku, která nám může přiblížit, jakým vývojem stát procházel. Česká republika má a využívá sedm státních symbolů. Bakalářská práce přináší přehled o státních symbolech České republiky, jejich historii a použití. Práce se zabývá mimo jiné využitím státních symbolů v diplomacii. Cílem práce bylo představení konkrétního použití státních symbolů České republiky (jak a kdy) a provedení kvantitativního výzkumu, jehož předmětem byla znalost státních symbolů ze strany české veřejnosti, kterého se zúčastnili respondenti ve věku 15+. Bakalářská práce představila také názory a zkušenosti odborníků z praxe. Práce přinesla tři zajímavé rozhovory odborníků, kteří předávají své znalosti a zkušenosti s použitím státních symbolů v diplomatickém, mezinárodním a politickém prostředí.

Abstract:

State symbols are of considerable importance to society. State symbols can still evolve. At other times they may change or disappear. State symbols are important to the state as they reflect the historical and complex development it has undergone and should not be forgotten. They are a form of national pride and should be treated as such approached in this way. They help the state to identify itself. State symbols and their use are clearly given. The use is varied, but it is based on the laws and the Vienna Conventions and can only be used by authorized persons. In diplomacy, state symbols also have their own representation. Often we can encounter improper use of state symbols, specifically in the use of the national flag. State symbols should be treated with respect. This is a diverse and remarkable subject that can give us an insight into the evolution of the state. The Czech Republic has and uses seven state symbols. The bachelor’s dissertation provides an overview of the state symbols of the Czech Republic, their history and use. The bachelor’s dissertation deals, among other things, with the use of state symbols in diplomacy. The aim of the bachelor’s dissertation was to present the specific use of state symbols of the Czech Republic (how and when) and to conduct quantitative research, the subject of which was the knowledge of the state symbols by Czech public, which involved respondents aged 15+. The bachelor’s dissertation also presented the opinions and experiences of practitioners. The bachelor’s dissertation featured three interesting interviews of experts, who share their knowledge and experience of the use of state symbols in diplomatic, international and political settings.
