The Aspects of Life in Chrudim in the Post-Hussite Era Illustrated by Late Medieval Last Wills

Abstract:

Předkládaná studie se snaží sestavit ucelený obraz menšího královského, utrakvistického města ve východních Čechách a postihnout tamní právní, hospodářské, sociální a náboženské poměry a jejich proměnu v období od konce husitských válek až do počátku 16. století. Obraz pohusitské městské společnosti je rekonstruován na základě rozboru chrudimských testamentů a dalších pramenů městské provenience. Hlavním cílem textu pak je analyzovat to, jak se náboženské, majetkové a politické proměny počátku 15. století promítly do aspektů života ve městě.

Abstract:

This thesis aims to construct a comprehensive view of the smaller royal utraquist town in Eastern Bohemia and to understand the local legal, economic, social and religious terms and their changes during the period from the end of the Hussite Wars until the early 16th century. The picture of post-Hussite urban society is based on an analysis of last wills of the Chrudim burghers and other sources of urban origin. The main objective of the text is to answer the question of how the religious, social and political transformations of the 15th century reflected in aspects of life in the city.
