Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměřuje na identifikaci atributů, které mají velký vliv na výkon studentů v oblasti vysokého školství. Analyzované atributy jsou získány z dat ukládaných v Informačním systémem Masarykovy univerzity (IS MU). Atributy jsou zkoumány dvěma odlišnýma metodama dolování v datech. Predikční modely identifikují studenty, kterým hrozí selhání předmětu, a modely subgroup discovery hledají a popisují podskupiny úspěšných/neúspěšných studentů. Pro oddělení výpočtů dolování v datech od běhu ostatních procesů byl navržen a založen virtuální REST server. Server a výsledky práce poslouží jako základ pro další vývoj analytických nástrojů pro předměty v IS MU.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the identification of attributes with a high impact on student performance in higher education. Analyzed attributes are sourced from the data provided by the Information System of Masaryk University (IS MU). Two distinct data mining techniques explore the attributes in detail. Prediction models identify students at risk of failing a course, and subgroup discovery models search and describe subgroups of successful/unsuccessful students. To separate data mining computation from the essential processes, a virtual REST server is designed and created. The server and the results of the thesis will serve as a foundation for further development of course analytic tools for the IS MU.
