Optimální dostupnost vody a minerálních živin jsou velmi důležitými faktory pro růst a vývoj rostlin. Díky globálním změnám klimatu a rostoucí populaci je nutné maximalizovat produkci potravin, k čemuž dochází i prostřednictvím aplikace dusíkatých hnojiv.
