Plato's dialogue Phaedrus - three speeches, rhetoric and writing as a game

Abstract:

V této práci se budu zabývat rétorikou, nejdříve jejím dobovým kontextem a jejími znaky, následovně pojetím rétoriky u Platóna a vymezením pravé rétoriky. Cílem práce bude identifikovat pravidla pravé rétoriky ve druhé půlce dialogu Faidros a poté jejich aplikace na tři řeči z první poloviny dialogu. V první částí budu popisovat základy rétoriky, tedy její působení v klasickém Řecku. Hned poté uvedu předpoklady pro pravou rétoriku, s ohledem na dobový kontext. Poté se zaměřím pouze na Platóna a na jeho vymezení rétoriky. Vzhledem k tomu, že se pojem rétorika objevuje ve více dialozích, lze tedy usoudit, že se jedná o jedno z nejdůležitějších témat, avšak v každém díle se na rétoriku pohlíží z jiného hlediska. Prvním pravidlem rozumíme nastavení formálnosti textu a struktury. Podle Sókrata vše musí mít řád. Druhé pravidlo popisuje přirozenost duše. Každý posluchač má duši jinou a tudíž musíme rozeznávat její přirozenost, abychom věděli, jak na ni zapůsobit. Třetí pravidlo pojednává o kráse s ohledem na dobro. Sókrates i Faidros se snaží přijít na to, v čem tkví krása řeči. Čtvrtým pravidlem Sókrates říká, že pokud chceme poznat pravou rétoriku, musíme se držet faktů a pravdy. Konečně páté pravidlo určuje, jak a jakým směrem mají být rozpohybovány duše. Úkolem řečníka je v posluchačích vyvolávat přesvědčení a to spočívá ve vodění duší. Následovně tento celý proces popisuje. Následně budu popisovat jednotlivé duše s ohledem na výše uvedená pravidla. První řeč pochází od Lysida. Je to však špatná řeč, jak formou, tak i obsahem. Druhá řeč, kterou pronáší Sókrates je obsahově velmi podobná, jako Lysidova. Odlišuje se ve formálním projevu. Ve třetí, nejpodstatnější části si však Sókrates uvědomuje, že se dopustil hrubého přestupku, když se opovážil nesprávně mluvit proti bohu lásky Erótovi. Snaží se řeč napravit a přednese svou palinódii, ve které uvádí spojitost mezi dušemi, láskou, rozumem a nejvyšším jsoucnem. Splní všechna pravidla pro pravou rétoriku, a tedy se dá předpokládat, že poslední řeč je jakýmsi návodem, pro správné řečnictví.Na závěr této práce se pokusím o vymezení 3 příkladů, jež Sókrates uvádí v závěru knihy.

Abstract:

In this paper I will try to describe the rhetoric, first contemporary context and character and then concept of rhetoric in Plato and the definition right rhetoric. The goal will be identify the right rules of rhetoric in the second half of the dialogue Phaedrus. And then their application in three languages from the first half of the dialogue. In the first part, I will describe the basics of rhetoric. I will focus on the theme of the Sophists, there is a problem between the philosophical rhetoric and sophistry rhetoric.Isocrates hate sophistic rhetoric. Then I will focus only on Plato and his definition of rhetoric. Rhetoric is in many dialogs, but in every part of the rhetoric is viewed from a different perspective. I will try to describe 5 rules, because they make the right rhetoric. The first rule setting formality text and structure. According to Socrates everything must have order. The second rule describe the nature of the soul. Every human have a different spirit, and we must identify it. The third rule is about beauty with regard to good. Socrates and Phaedrus are trying to say, what is the beauty of language. Could it be love, because through that you always remember the beauty. It is necessary to know the truth and Facts and then understand to right rhetoric it is fourt rule. Finally, the fifth rule defines how and what direction should be animate soul. The process describe how to grow wings and how react souls, if they see something beautiful. Then I will describe the individual soul with the rules. In the third speech Socrates proposes to tell the truth about love. The third speech is correctly composed and the content is correct too. Only third speech correspond with all the Rules.
