Pedagogical activites with the diaries of Helga Weiss and Helga Pollak-Kinsky

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the significance of the personal stories of the victims of the Second World War in the teaching of the Holocaust at elementary and secondary schools in the Czech Republic. The work also clarifies the principles of museum education of the period of the National Socialist regime, considering the educational activities of the Terezín Memorial. The main aim of the work is to draft an educational project that Czech school youth brings to the history of the Holocaust based on the analysis of diary records of two teenage girls who survived the Terezin Ghetto and other repressive facilities. The educational project reflects the history of the Holocaust not only chronologically but also gives impulses for reflection on other aspects of the genocide of the Jewish population during the Second World War.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá významem osobních příběhů obětí druhé světové války ve výuce o holocaustu na základních a středních školách ČR. Práce ozřejmuje rovněž principy muzejní pedagogiky památníků z doby nacionálněsocialistického režimu s přihlédnutím k vzdělávací činnosti Památníku Terezín. Hlavním cílem práce je návrh vzdělávacího projektu, který české školní mládeži přibližuje dějiny holocaustu na podkladě analýzy deníkových záznamů dvou dospívajících dívek, jež přežily terezínské ghetto a další represivní zařízení. Vzdělávací projekt reflektuje dějiny holocaustu nejen chronologicky, ale předkládá i podněty k zamyšlení nad dalšími aspekty genocidy židovského obyvatelstva v průběhu druhé světové války.
