Abstract:

Bakalářská práce analyzuje obraz železnice ve vybraném díle Juhaniho Aha, konkrétně v malých románech Železnice, Do Helsinek, Osamělý, Člověk, který neměl pokoje, a v textu Ve vlaku. Práce nejprve stručně shrnuje historii železnice ve Finsku a dotýká se tématu železnice v literatuře všeobecně, dále představuje Juhaniho Aha a jeho tvorbu a zasazuje obojí do historického kontextu. Těžištěm práce jsou samotné analýzy vybraných děl, které ukazují, jakými způsoby Juhani Aho železnici ve svém díle vyobrazuje. V případě děl Železnice a Člověk, který neměl pokoje je také věnován prostor možné symbolice železnice v textech.

Abstract:

This thesis aims to analyze the image of railway in selected works of Juhani Aho, specifically The Railway, To Helsinki, Alone, Broken by the World and On the Train. The thesis first summarizes the history of railway in Finland and touches briefly on the topic of railways in literature in general. Next, it presents information about Aho's life and work as well as their historical context. The focal point of the thesis are the analyses, in which we can see the differing various ways in which Aho portrayed the railway in his writing. In case of The Railway and Broken by the World, the paper also briefly discusses possible symbolism of the railway in Aho's work.
