The Bible and the Translation. Salomon Song

Abstract:

This thesis deals with Bible translations, with the Song of Songs, found in Volxbibel, as a particular example. The work is divided into six chapters, with the practical part included in the last chapter. The first chapter of theoretical part is devoted to the theory of translation and translation history. The second chapter discusses the Bible and its books. The Song of Songs, Luther?s Bible and Volxbibel, which are later examined in the theoretical part, are introduced in the final part of the second chapter. The history of Bible translations is to be found in the appendix. The third chapter focuses on Bible translation while emphasizing all the intricate features of this approach. The theory of Bible translation of Eugene Nida is last part of the third chapter. While the forth chapter offers an array of the theories of translation, only two of them are eventually selected. It is the Skopos theory and the theory of George Levy that are employed later in the theoretical part. The fifth chapter, which is also the last chapter of the theoretical part, comments on the youth language while highlighting its typical features. The sixth chapter start by introducing the method of analysis. Afterwards, three different translations of the Song of Songs are compared. The conclusion then summarises the result of the analysis.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou biblického překladu a to konkrétně Volxbibel na příkladu Písni Písní. Práce je rozdělena do šesti kapitol včetně praktické části, která je součástí poslední kapitoly. První kapitola teoretické části je věnována problematice překladu a historii překladu. V následující kapitole se hovoří o Bibli a jejích jednotlivých knihách, načež závěr kapitoly se blíže věnuje Písni Písní, Luterově Bibli a Volxbibel, se kterými se pracuje v teoretické části. Dějiny biblického překladu jsou součástí přílohy. Další kapitola je zaměřena na biblický překlad, kde jsou diskutovány všechny zvláštnosti tohoto druhu překladu, a je zakončena teorií biblického překladu Eugena Nidy. V následující kapitole jsou zmíněny další překladové teorie, z nichž byly vybrány pouze dvě, a to teorie Skoposu a teorie Jiřího Levého, které jsou využity v praktické části práce. Poslední kapitola teoretické části je věnována jazyku mládeže a především jeho typickým znakům. Analytická část je součástí šesté kapitoly, kde je na začátku představena metoda analýzy. Poté je srovnáván každý verš její čtvrté kapitoly ve třech překladech. V závěru práce jsou uvedeny výsledky, ke kterým se dospělo.
