Abstract:

Interné útoky sú pre organizácie jednou z najväčších kyberbezpečnostných výziev, ktorým môžu čeliť. Takéto útoky sú ťažko odhaliteľné a ťažko sa im predchádza, keďže sú vykonávané privilegovanými zamestnancami zvnútra organizácie. Jednou z mála uskutočniteľných možností ako ich identifikovať, je detekovať anomálie v správaní jednotlivca. Špecifickým prípadom interného útoku je, ak zamestnanec neúmyselne poskytne citlivé informácie tretej strane. Hlavným účelom práce je prispieť k snahe predchádzať takýmto útokom. Táto práca predstavuje kyberbezpečnostnú hru, ktorá môže slúžiť ako tréningové prostredie pre zamestnancov a umožňovala by simulácie týchto útokov a ich následnú analýzu. Najprv sú vysvetlené zásadné pojmy interných útokov spolu s hrozbami, ktoré pre organizáciu predstavujú a taktiež sociálne inžinierstvo v súvislosti s internými útokmi. Hra je určená pre dvoch hráčov a je vytvorená vo virtuálnom prostredí tréningovej platformy KYPO CRP. Úlohou hlavného hráča je splniť zadané úlohy. Druhý hráč, o ktorom hlavný hráč nevie, sa od neho pomocou techník sociálneho inžinierstva snaží získať citlivé informácie. Hra bola testovaná a vyhodnotená na dobrovoľných účastníkoch a jej výsledky sú diskutované v tejto práci.

Abstract:

Insider attacks are one of the biggest cybersecurity challenges an organization can face. These attacks are hard to detect and prevent since they are performed by employees with privileges from within an organization, and one of the few feasible ways of identifying them is detecting anomalies in an individual's behaviour. A specific case of insider attack is when an employee inadvertently causes damage to an organization by providing sensitive data to a third party. The primary purpose of this thesis is to contribute to the pursuit of prevention of such attacks. Therefore, the thesis introduces a cybersecurity game that should serve as a training environment for employees, enabling simulations of these attacks and their consequent analysis. This thesis first describes the fundamental concepts of insiders and insider attacks along with insider threats they pose to an organization. Subsequently, it introduces social engineering in the context of insider attacks. Furthermore, the game is designed for two players, created in a virtual environment via the cybersecurity training platform KYPO CRP. The goal of the main player in the game is to complete assigned tasks. The second player is covert to the main player and tries to obtain sensitive information from them using social engineering techniques. The game was evaluated on voluntary participants, and the results are discussed in this thesis.
