The goal of this thesis is to describe possible approaches to communication between a kernel of host system with it's hypervisor with the emphasis on device input/output. To describe hypervisor KVM and his virtio layer and compare it with approach to implementing paravirtualized drivers on other hypervisors. Cieľom tejto práce je popísať možné prístupy ku komunikácii jadra systému na virtuálnom stroji so svojim hypervisorom v oblasti ovládačov virtuálnych zariadení. Tiež podrobne popísať hypervisor KVM a jeho vrstvu virtio pre paravirtualizované ovládače a porovnať ho s prístupom k paravirtualizovaným ovládačom v iných hypervisoroch.
