The value orientation of adolescents and the perceived way of upbringing in the family

Abstract:

Tato práce si kladla za cíl zjistit, jaké jsou hodnotové orientace současných adolescentů a vztah mezi těmito orientacemi a způsobem výchovy v rodině. V teoretické části jsou shrnuty teoretické poznatky o lidských hodnotách, rodinném prostředí a rodičovské výchově, adolescenci a faktorech, které ovlivňují hodnotovou orientaci adolescentů. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 179 účastníků (z toho 108 žen) ve věku 15 – 19 let (průměrný věk 17 let). Pro zjištění hodnotové orientace byl použit Rokeachův test hierarchie hodnot, pro zjištění způsobu výchovy v rodině byl použit Dotazník rodičovského jednání a postojů pro adolescenty (ADOR). V empirické části jsme se nejprve věnovali analýze hodnotových preferencí našich respondentů. Zjišťovaly se nejdůležitější a nejméně důležité hodnoty respondentů, jejich hodnotové orientace a rozdíly v těchto preferencích ve vztahu k pohlaví. Výsledkem naší analýzy bylo nalezení 4 skupin osob dle preferencí hodnot, přičemž dívky více preferovaly hodnoty spojené s obecným blahem, zatímco chlapci upřednostnili více hodnoty zaměřené na vlastní osobu. Druhá část empirického oddílu byla věnována nalezení možných vztahů mezi některými faktory rodičovské výchovy (autonomie, direktivnost, pozitivita, nedůslednost a hostilita) a námi nalezenými čtyřmi skupinami hodnot. Interpretačně nejzajímavější, statisticky významné vztahy, byly nalezeny mezi pozitivitou, hostilitou a nedůsledností ve výchově otce a vztahem k obecným hodnotám, dále mezi pozitivitou ve výchově matky, direktivností a hostilitou otce a vztahem k hodnotám společenského uznání, a nakonec mezi autonomií ve výchově obou rodičů a preferencí rodinných hodnot. Rovněž jsme zjistili, že jedinci upřednostňující zejména hodnoty obecného blaha udávali nejvyšší míru pozitivity a nejnižší míru hostility a nedůslednosti ve výchově otce.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with an impact of parenting style on value orientation of adolescents. The theoretical part is focused on topics of values, parenting styles, adolescence and impact of several factors on value orientation. The research samples consisted of 179 respondents (108 females) aged from 15 to 19 years (an average age of respondents was 17 years). We used two methods for data collecting – Rokeach Value Survey and questionnaire Dotazník rodičovského jednání a postojů pro adolescenty (ADOR; Questionnaire about parenting style for adolescents). In empirical part we analysed value preferences of our respondents, their value orientation and differences between these preferences depending on their gender. We have found out that girls prefer general well-being type of values more than boys and boys prefer more values focused on their own well-being. In second part of empirical research we have found out that there is relationship between positivity, directivity, authority, hostility and inconsistency in fathers parenting styles and preference of general well-being type of values. We have also found relationship between positivity in mothers parenting styles and authority and hostility in fathers parenting styles and preference of social-recognition values. The third relationship that we have found is between autonomy in mothers and fathers parenting styles and preference of family focused values. We also found out that adolescents with higher preference of general well-being type of values rate their fathers as more positive and less hostile and inconsistency in their parenting styles.
