Means of Emotional Expressions in German and Czech Comic-books

Abstract:

This paper was elaborated to depict the emotions expressed in two comics taken as examples. I have used one German and one Czech for this analysis. The German comic was written by the author Ulli Lust and is called ?Heute ist der letzte Tag vom Rest deines Lebens? (Today is the last day of the rest of your life). The Czech comic was created by two authors, Kája Saudek and Jaroslav Weigel and is called ?Lips Tullian?. The paper consists of seven chapters, each with their defined purpose for ensuring a thorough depiction of the desired subject. The first chapter explains the term of emotion and connected meanings. Chapter two describes the history and theory behind comic books. In the third chapter the text corpus is presented, while the fourth chapter presents the analysis method I have chosen to present my findings. Chapters five and six present the empirical part, where examples from the comics are described and analysed. The last and seventh chapter indicates the comparison and the results.

Diese Diplomarbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Ausdruck von Emotionen am Beispiel von zwei Comics. Es werden ein deutscher und eine tschechischer Comic untersucht. Der deutsche wurde von der Autorin Ulli Lust verfasst und heißt ?Heute ist der letzte Tag vom Rest deines Lebens?. Der tschechische wurde von dem Autorenduo Kája Saudek und Jaroslav Weigel kreiert und heißt ?Lips Tullian?. Die Arbeit besteht aus sieben Kapiteln. Im ersten Kapitel wird der Begriff Emotion und damit zusammenhängende Begriffe erläutert. Das zweite Kapitel beschäftigt sich mit der Theorie und Geschichte des Comics. Im dritten Kapitel wird das Textkorpus vorgestellt und im vierten dann die Methodik der Analyse, die benutzt wird. Das fünfte und sechste Kapitel sind dann der empirische Teil, wo die Beispiele aus den Comics beschrieben und untersucht werden. Im letzten, siebten Kapitel wird die Komparation der Resultate durchgeführt.
