The relationship between resilience and psychic deprivation at residential care youth

Abstract:

The main aim of this thesis is to analyze and describe two theoretical concepts ? psychic deprivation and resilience at residential care youth. The aim of the work is then to focus on potential connections between these two concepts. The theoretical part of thesis focuses on the definition of the psychic deprivation and resilience. This creates a basic framework for implemented research. The researched sample consisted of 410 adolescents aged 14-20 years. From those 410, 206 adolescents currently live in a creche (primarily in Moravskoslezský or Olomoucký district). The controlled sample consisted of 204 adolescents currently living in a home environment. The differences between both groups living in different environments are not too significant. The rate of the psychical deprivation (measured by FSŠED) by the adolescents living in creches is higher; however, what is important is the negative fact that both groups indicate a very high score in this test. Furthermore, the research showed that adolescents from creches had some factors of resilience higher than the adolescents living in a home environment (based on the CYRM-28 method). After performing a statistical analysis, it was found out that there is a rather negative correlation between deprivation and the individual factors of resilience.

Abstract:

Hlavným cieľom tejto práce je popísať a analyzovať dva teoretické koncepty ? psychickú depriváciu a rezilienciu u detí, žijúcich v ústavnej starostlivosti a následne sa zamerať na možné súvislosti medzi týmito dvoma premennými. Teoretická časť práce sa sústreďuje na vymedzenie pojmu psychickej deprivácie a reziliencie. Vytvára tak základný teoretický rámec, ktorý slúži ako podklad pre následne zrealizovaný výskum. Výskumný súbor tvorilo celkom 410 adolescentov vo veku 14 ? 20 rokov. Z toho 206 adolescentov momentálne žije v detských domovoch (prevažne v Moravskosliezskom, prípadne v Olomouckom kraji). Kontrolný súbor tvorilo 204 adolescentov žijúcich v rodinnom prostredí. Rozdiely medzi dvoma skupinami adolescentov žijúcich v rôznom prostredí nie sú veľmi výrazné. Miera psychickej deprivácie (meraná pomocou FSŠED) u adolescentov žijúcich v detských domovoch je v priemere síce vyššia, dôležitý je však negatívny fakt, že obidve skupiny vykazujú v tomto teste pomerne vysoké skóre. Ďalším zistením bolo (na základe metódy CYRM-28), že adolescenti z detských domovov vykazujú niektoré faktory reziliencie vyššie ako adolescenti žijúci v rodinnom prostredí. Pomocou štatistickej analýzy bola zistená záporná korelácia medzi depriváciou a individuálnymi faktormi reziliencie.
