Verbal assessment in the subject of mathematics at the 1st grade of primary school from the perspective of parents and students

Abstract:

Diplomová práce Slovní hodnocení v předmětu matematika na 1. stupni na základní škole z pohledu žáků a rodičů se zabývá problematikou slovního hodnocení na 1. stupni ZŠ v předmětu matematika. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou, metodologickou a empirickou. Teoretická část je zaměřena na vysvětlení pojmů, formy a typy školního hodnocení. Dále se v této části zaměřuji na specifika slovního hodnocení a jeho porovnání s běžnou klasifikací. Metodologická část práce se zabývá popisem výzkumné strategie, popisem vybraných základních škol a postupem při realizaci rozhovorů s žáky a jejich rodiči. Empirická část zahrnuje kvalitativní výzkumné šetření, jehož cílem bylo zjistit a popsat, jakým způsobem reagují žáci a rodiče z vyloučené lokality na slovní hodnocení, a kterou formu hodnocení upřednostňují žáci a rodiče ze základní školy, kde slovní hodnocení dostávají společně s běžnou klasifikací. Tato diplomová práce má za cíl poskytnout náhled a kritickou analýzu efektivity slovního hodnocení v předmětu matematika na 1. stupni základní školy a identifikovat potenciální výhody, nevýhody a rizika ve srovnání s klasickými metodami hodnocení.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the problematics of verbal evaluation in mathematics classes in primary schools. The work is divided into theoretical, methodological, and empirical part. The theoretical part focuses on the explanation of terminology, as well as on the forms and concepts of assessment in schools. This part also states the specifics of verbal evaluation and its comparison to the traditional classification. The methodological part of the thesis describes the research strategies, the selected primary schools and the procedure of conducting interviews with students and their parents. The empirical part includes a qualitative research, the purpose of which was to identify and describe how pupils and their parents from excluded localities react to verbal evaluation and which form of evaluation is preferred by the students and their parents in the primary schools where verbal evaluation is used in addition to the traditional classification. The aim of this thesis is to provide insight and critical analysis of the effectiveness of verbal evaluation in primary school mathematics classes to determine its potential benefits or drawbacks compared to the traditional forms of classification.
