Development of Economic Policy in the Slovak Republic and its Impact on Media Corporations

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the parallel between the development of the economic policy in the Slovak Republic, and financial and business development of the media corporation Radio and Television of Slovakia (RTVS). The hypothesis was confirmed, meaning that the economic policy does have an impact on the public service corporation RTVS. Economic policy has influenced the revenues and expenditures of RTVS, as well as its operations and program tasks arising from the laws. This selected issue was solved through the analysis of particular economic policies together with the overall economic situation in Slovakia over the years 2005-2015. Moreover, data about the financial development of RTVS and its external and internal environment, available from the corporation’s annual reports, were processed through the SWOT analysis as well as through the trend analysis. The result is based on the comparison of the key financial figures of RTVS from each year over a period of ten years and its confrontation with the development of the economic policy.
