The issue of the minimum wage and the tax burden in the countries of the Visegrad Group

Abstract:

Cílem práce je vyhodnotit problematiku daňového zatížení v zemích Visegrádské skupiny a také zhodnotit úroveň a vývoj minimální mzdy v těchto daných státech. Data byla shromážděna zejména z odborných publikací a webových stránek příslušných ministerstev, případně doplněna studiem některých zákonů. Závěry celé práce jsou následující. Zaprvé, že minimální mzda roste ve všech státech Visegrádské skupiny kontinuálně, především pak v posledních několika letech. Obecně nejnižší úroveň minimální mzdy je pak v Maďarsku. Dalším důležitým zjištěním je to, že co se týče daňového zatížení mezd a odvodů zaměstnanců, celkově ze srovnání těchto zemí vychází pro zaměstnance nejlépe Česká republika. Jinak řečeno, rozdíl mezi hrubou a čistou mzdou je na všech úrovních příjmů právě v České republice nejnižší.

Abstract:

The aim of the work is to evaluate the issue of the tax burden in the countries of the Visegrad Group and also to evaluate the level and development of the minimum wage in these countries. The data were collected mainly from professional publications and websites of the relevant ministries, or supplemented by a study of some laws. The conclusions of the whole work are as follows. Firstly, that the minimum wage has been rising continuously in all the Visegrad countries, especially in the last few years. In general, the lowest level of the minimum wage is in Hungary. Another important finding is that in terms of the tax burden on wages and employee contributions, the Czech Republic is generally based on a comparison of these countries for employees. In other words, the difference between gross and net wages is the lowest in the Czech Republic at all income levels.
