Strategic culture of Pakistan

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce aplikuje koncept strategické kultury na Pákistán. Teoretická část představuje koncept strategické kultury a teoretický rámec, podle kterého bude zkoumána strategická kultura Pákistánu. Praktická část analyzuje zdroje strategické kultury a stanoví její předběžné rysy. Ty jsou porovnány s důležitými bezpečnostně-politickými rozhodnutími pákistánských elit, především s rozhodnutím bývalého prezidenta Parvíze Mušarafa stát na straně Spojených států ve válce v Afghánistánu. Následně jsou jednotlivé rysy vyhodnoceny a je stanovena jejich relevance.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis applies the concept of strategic culture to Pakistan. The theoretical part introduces concept of strategic culture and theoretical framework, which is used to examine strategic culture of Pakistan. The practical part analyses sources of Pakistan strategic culture and sets down its preliminary features. These features are compared with the important security policy decisions of Pakistani elites, especially with the decision of former president Pervez Musharraf to side with the United States in the war in Afghanistan. Afterwards the features are evaluated and their relevance is set.
