Artificial Intelligence in New Media: Aesthetic Autonomy from Robotic Painting to Neural Network

Abstract:

Diplomová práce Umělá inteligence v nových médiích: estetická autonomie od robotické malby po neuronovou síť se bude zabývat využitím konceptu umělé inteligence pro tvorbu uměleckých děl. Pole zájmu se zaměřuje na nejvýznamnější aplikace, projekty a umělce pracující s umělou inteligencí a vytvářející tak umělecká díla. V práci bude nejdříve teoreticky vymezen pojem umělá inteligence a její principy. Poté se práce zaměří na pojem estetická autonomie. V další části bude nastíněn vztah mezi umělou inteligencí a uměním. V praktické části práce pak budou prostřednictvím kritického přehledu představeny jednotlivé aplikace, projekty a umělci, kteří pracují s umělou inteligencí. Projekty jsou vybrány z různých historických období s důrazem na období posledních pěti let. Cílem této diplomové práce je představit komentovaný přehled nejvýznamnějších aplikací, projektů a umělců využívajících umělé inteligence k tvorbě umění.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis Artificial intelligence in new media: aesthetic autonomy from robotic painting to neural network will deal with the use of the concept of artificial intelligence for the creation of works of art. Field of interest focuses on the most important applications, projects and artists working with artificial intelligence, creating works of art. The theoretical part will describe artificial intelligence and its principles. Then the work will focus on the concept of aesthetic autonomy. The next section will outline the relationship between artificial intelligence and art. In the practical part of the work, individual applications, projects and artists working with artificial intelligence will be presented through a critical overview. The projects are selected from different historical periods with an emphasis on the last five years. The aim of this diploma thesis is to present a commented summary of the most important applications, projects and artists using artificial intelligence to creating art.
