Some aspects of the integration process in contemporary Sweden in the context of integration policy and the work of non-profit organizations

Abstract:

Práce přibližuje specifickou úlohu státní integrační politiky a práce neziskového sektoru v procesu integrace ve Švédsku. Pokouší se vyvíjené aktivity obou sfér porovnat a zjistit jak pracují v oblastech, v nichž k začleňování dochází nejčastěji. Pozornost je přitom věnována roli neziskových organizací v procesu integrace jako možného protipólu státní integrační politiky. Práce je rozdělena do pěti kapitol. První kapitola se věnuje teorii integrace a teorii role neziskových organizací v procesu integrace tak, jak ji chápou vybraní autoři. Ve druhé kapitole je představen stručný vývoj přistěhovalectví od druhé světové války, který ve Švédsku vedl k dnešnímu stavu. Třetí kapitola přibližuje integrační strategii současné integrační politiky, která je v další kapitole reflektována. Čtvrtá kapitola se věnuje výzkumu reflexe integrační politiky z řad vybraných zástupců neziskových organizací, pracujících s integrací přistěhovalců. Kritika odhaluje možné slabiny státu v práci s imigranty a proměnlivou ochotu úřadů o integraci hlouběji diskutovat a integrační projekty podporovat. Závěrečná pátá kapitola sestavuje na základě provedeného výzkumu znalosti o charakteru, roli a aktivitách různých druhů neziskových organizací v procesu integrace na lokálním stupni ve městě Göteborg. Dotazníkové šetření poukázalo na možný pozitivní vliv aktivit organizací na integraci přistěhovalců.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to describe specific role of the governmental integration policy and the work of the non-profit sector in the integration process in Sweden. It attempts to compare the activities of both spheres and find out how they work in the most common areas of integration. The attention is paid to the role of non-profit organizations in the process of integration as a possible antipole to the national integration policy. The work is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is devoted to the theory of the integration and the theory of the role of non-profit organizations in the integration process as it is understood by the selected authors. The second chapter presents a brief development of immigration since the Second World War, which has led to the current situation in Sweden. The third chapter presents an integration strategy of the current integration policy, which is reflected in the next chapter. The fourth chapter presents a research about reflection of the integration policy among selected representatives of the non-profit organizations working with integration. Criticism reveals probable weaknesses of the state in terms of the work with immigrants and variable willingness of the authorities to discuss integration and support the integration projects. On the basis of the next research the fifth and final chapter compiles knowledge about the nature, role and activities of the various types of non-profit organizations in the integration process at the local level in Gothenburg. Questionnaire survey pointed to a possible positive effect of the activities of the organization on making the "first step towards integration".
